Illinois Manufacturing Foundation provides sector-specific training and technical services that (a) enable Chicago area businesses to access trained, skilled candidates for employment and (b) enable unemployed Chicago area residents to gain access to skilled, technical careers through training and placement programs. In Chicago, IMF operates two technical training and placement programs that prepare individuals for careers as: 1. Precision Machinists via training with manual machine tools, automatic machine tools and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machine tools, and 2. Building Maintenance Technicians via training in safety, hand and power tools, basic electricity, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, basic drywall, painting, etc.
