Employment Projections
A reliable source for employment projections for Illinois is the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). IDES is the official state-level office of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The national projections released from the BLS, are used to create Illinois projections at a variety of geographic levels, inlcuding state, county, and metropolitan area.
Distilled Projections
Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, has distilled employment projections from IDES, and other sources, as part of their work surrounding Chicago WIA providers. CWICstats, a research initiative from Chapin Hall, also creates the following dashboard reports each quarter for the Chicago Workforce Investment Council, providing them with key labor market statistics, including employment figures, mass layoff statistics, and new hire estimates.

Chicago Workforce Investment Council (CWIC)
CWIC is one source for real-time labor market trends in Chicago. Utilizing Help Wanted Online from the Conference Board, CWIC develops quarterly reports on job demand and employer needs. These are based off data pulled from internet job boards. The ability to pull from current online job postings is why these reports are referred to as "real-time".
